Feel free to correct me if I`m wrong but directionality of cable is supposed to be myth. Some cables are designed with an outer shield (separate from the signal return conductor) that is connected at only one end. In that case it is generally considered best to connect the end that has the connected shield to the component which drives the cable.
Directionality of cables that are symmetrically designed (configured identically at both ends) is controversial, with some considering it to be a myth, and others believing that it can make a considerable difference. I personally have not experimented with it.
