Just to throw my 2 cents in if you find one. The Burson buffer is what Chris Johnson of Parts Connexion called the Cadillac of buffers. It is awesome. I have some very nice systems and components and on my well balanced system there is no negatives with the Burson buffer and big positives. You could put a want add in the classified section and possibly get one that way.

I checked out the Pass site and they sell an empty circuit board only; no parts that I can see. That's not in my future. As for the used Burson in Melbourne, well I'm in the USA and shipping would add a lot to the cost, but I will keep that in mind. Thanks again... John

Would you be opposed to using a solid state preamp as buffer? I've used tube preamps as a buffer between my digital/analog sources and my preamp. I don't see how that could be a problem with a solid state preamp.

You would have more choices that way IMO. Just choose a solid state preamp that interests you or fits your criteria.

I have a pair of HRS balanced for sale 900.00 as good as the burson.

I have two SCE HRS (Harmonic Recovery System) buffer units with the standard input and output jacks, like the other components in my systems. These are surplus to my needs. I ran out of space for these two on a new equipment rack.

If you want to use the same type of interconnects you are probably already using, this could save you from having to purchase balanced interconnects if you do not yet own the balanced type which some audiophiles prefer.
Surprisingly, using a buffer is rarely ever discussed, although you do not have to strain to hear the improvement.

Koestner hi, I've used this one, ready made for $20 shipped, quite good, all you have to do is give it +15 -15 and earth, these voltages are usually found in most gear. High input impedance 100kohm and good output drivability.

Thanks, that's a lot better than the Pass board without the parts, but still I'm no "DIYer". I will keep my eyes open for a reasonable priced Burson in the US. Thanks to all.

PCX have a Burson buffer in stock i believe. You can send them an email.

If you're interested there is a McCormack TLC-1 with the Rev A upgrades done to it. The TLC has a buffered output that is second to none and a passive output. Plus if you want to improve upon its performance you have the help of the designer here on this site or at SMc Audio. The price being asked would cover the cost of having one upgraded. I've enjoyed mine so much I had mine upgraded to the Signature Edition that includes the power supply built for the VRE-1c and balanced outputs. Anyway just a suggestion.
