Pros and Cons of the Gryphon Trident II speakers

Looking for your next "best" speaker? After your years of buying and selling speakers, you need to determine what characteristics you are looking for. Of the speakers you have owned, was there a favorite, and why?  What meets your wants, needs and desires. Asking anyone about a particular pair of speakers, such as the Gryphons, is simply getting opinions from others based on what they like, and they might like something different than you. A sound system is all about the "particular" listener. I just see another merry go round, never ending, ime. I hope you find what you are listening for. Try horns (my preference), but you might need to change some electronics for best match. To each his/her own. As a former "consultant", it is more about the "taste" of the individual....you. The Gryphons are wonderful speakers as I have heard them a lot. One excellent feature is that the woofers are self amplified by an internal amp. They also come with a remote to adjust those woofers by "Q" and volume. This allows you to tailor each recording to your needs, as we all know, not every recording has the bass spot on.

I have spent time with the Tridents.  The characteristic that stood out most was the HUGE soundstage.  By far the biggest that I've heard to date and the runner up wasn't even close.  In a room that is too small for them they will sound unrealistic.  

"Looking for a speaker that gives me all the information,  very dynamic, low level detail but not bright sounding unless it’s in the recording,  I hate speakers that sound vailed. I like   Snappy and fast but I want to hear all the overtones and woods of certain instruments.  Love uncolored details and neutral."

This perfectly describes my Rockport Lyra's.  I've never heard a speaker with the immediacy and speed they have.
