Speaker placement and soundstage
Rabbit hole has been sighted and I'm half way down!  This is a fun part of the hobby, though it can be frustrating too.  I skimmed over the thread and there is some good advice from the community.   One thing that I didn't see mentioned is giving...
Visited a Store and was shunned
They need to do better.  You are the customer, your potential business was a walk-in opportunity that cost them nothing.  Your original post was fair and balanced.  The tiny universe of us in the hobby need to both look out for each other and poli...
Rockport Avior II's in 19x24.5 room?
Please check back in and lets us all know how they work out in your room.  Best of luck with positioning and break in.  Cheers
Room treatment
If your room is untreated, taking care of the room will be better than any electronics upgrade you make.
Sound Absorbing Drapes
Properly treating a room is the best bang for the buck all most every time.  If your aim for less reverb the material is key.  Most synthetic fibers are at least moderately reflective so natural fibers like cotton, hemp etc. are preferred to reduc...
Aurender N100h low volume
Two thoughts:  1- is your DAC volume set to the proper level.  2-You can Airplay directly to the DAC and test the output level relative to the N100.  Hope you sort it out.
Supplementing KEF Ref 3 METAs
budget?
Best bang for the buck
Hands down, room treatments, all stop.  I've got a fully treated room and finally got around to putting some Rockwool insulation in the crawl space under the floor and got a transformative SQ increase.  $250 well spent.
the one that got away - how do you handle grief?
I think that you're asking the wrong question.  The better question is, how do I get what I really want?  1-"There's a price for every trade"  2-"Bid to win not to miss" 3-"Cute little bids often lead to big opportunity loss" If something comes t...
SourcePoint 888 owners – low-end bass in open rooms?
If you like the sonic presentation on some recordings one should ask the question, "Do I have enough amplification power/current?"  Underpowered systems will give up the bass first on demanding tracks.
Standalone DAC upgrade from onboard integrated
I think that you're looking in the right direction going R2R.  Holo or Denafrips is the way to go.  I would also consider two other things.  If you bring in a upgraded DAC try running your CD player digital out into the DAC. I think you will like ...
Help me clarify, is there a difference between 'forward' and 'bright'?
I think that most seasoned listeners will say that forward is not necessarily bright or vice versa.  Forward refers to where and how the virtual soundstage is presented in the room.  A forward soundstage will have the center image well out in fron...
Is my new amp TOO GOOD?
After everything is nicely run in there is one more important way to control HF.  Speaker rake (speaker tilt front to back) is a very effective way to add or decrease the amount of treble you hear.  Enjoy your new equipment!
Almost not bearable.
I'm wondering if quality recordings went the way of manual transmissions in sports cars.  They're still out there but you have to look really hard to find one.
I am panning to upgrade my Panamax 5300. Recommendations?
@hilde45 To answer your question, I don't know how to or or have the tools to measure the quality of the power coming into my system.  Over many, many years I've decided I don't care about measurements and specs because I can't hear them.  I've be...
