Accuphase amplifier choice

Hello All,

I have decided to upgrade my Parasound A21 amplifier looking for a more refined sound. The following are the amplifiers that I have in my mind:

Accuphase A-48s
Accuphase P-4600
Coda No. 8 (meterless)
Coda 16.0 (meterless)

Currently I am leaning largely to Accuphase. My dealer says that the Class A 48s will sound better with my ProAc D48R. But I am worried that I will lose dynamics since the Accuphase is only 50W into 8 Ohms. But it doubles all the way into 1 ohm.

The P-4600 is a higher wattage amp and I think it should be able to drive the D48R with ease because it doubles down to 2 ohm load. So I am not concerned with it's ability to drive the ProAcs.

I do have some feedback on the P-4600 from another thread here and appreciate it. But now looking for some comparisons.

Has anyone compared/experienced the Accuphase Vs Coda amplifiers? Any feedback is appreciated.

I remember commenting on your simplified system. The Parasond JC-1 is commendable and a very high performing amplifier that is a design by John Curl. I have not seen any bad/average review of that amplifier. The fact that your Accuphase integrated is satisfying after you having owned high performance equipment, says a lot. I am enjoying every time I turn my system on. Thank you!

Yes, I do have 2 dedicated 20 amp lines (same 10 gauge wire) that was put in when I finished the audio room in 2015. The dedicated lines do make a difference. Cheers!

@milpai, Like many who have been in this audio hobby for a long time I've been fortunate to own a number of highly rated components.  I won't boast by throwing out a bunch of names.  But between what I've owned, what I've heard in friend's systems, and decades of attending audio shows I feel confident in praising my modest Accuphase.  ;^)

I do not have an iota of doubt in my mind about that. When you have a passion, you land with an Accuphase!

Well said! I believe Accuphase is one of those rare brands that focuses less on hype and more on delivering a natural, effortless, and emotionally engaging listening experience.

For many of us, it’s not just about owning the gear; it’s about getting closer to the music.

Completely agree with the comments! I'll be buying my 2nd Accuphase piece towards the end of the year when their C-2900 preamp replacement is officially announced.
