Cambridge Evo 150 would do it all for reasonable cost used.
Friend needs help
I have a close friend that wants to upgrade his stereo system. He is old school and frugal. Currently he has a Kenwood KA-501, which I bought in high school, many years ago, and gave to him after having it serviced. He has Cerwin Vega speakers and B/W book shelves. My question what would be a great integrated amp, with 3-5 inputs, a pre-out to add an amp down the road. I am suggesting that he gets a WiiM Ultra streamer and get into the streaming game. He is mostly a rock and roll guy. He is leaving all of the decisions to me.

Sorry about that. 2000-2500, would be his range. Prefer new, but I have bought many demo's and they are fine at half the price. I'm thinking 100-150 wpc The Wiim is great, I have one and so versatile. Better than my more expensive streamer. TV and HP amp hook up, which is where I am going to also hook up his tuner, if we don't have enough inputs on the integrated, and yes old dude still likes his tuner. Thank you for your help |
@mofimadness , + 2 on the Parasound HiNT 6. There are some listed used for $1700-2000. That would meet his budget and allow for a streamer. I’m a classic rock guy too. I stream Tidal and Qbuz , but I often stream the free radio channels like Radio Paradise and Dot 1 FM. I’m laying here listening to Slade on one of the channels now. His CV’s are fairly efficient but us old rockers are bass heads and that Parasound has plenty of power. Maybe someday he’ll acquire a hand me down subwoofer. 😆 He’ll never outgrow that amp.
