Surely, one will come up used, eventually, no?
He Who Hesitates…
My Isotek power conditioner, which I purchased about a year ago, came with a nice power cable, but I was considering upgrading to the Isotek Optimum, which sold for $1295. But I waited. The price then jumped to $1395, but again, I hesitated. I just looked again today and the price was $1995. Needless to say, I am not buying it. I’m sure some of you have experienced the same thing. Unfortunately, I cannot find any on the used market. I’ve seen this happen before in the past, but I’ve usually purchased what I wanted before major price increases.

@chayro - after Covid, generally prices are increasing everywhere especially in high-end audio components although sometimes stalling on a used component “might” be enough incentive for the seller to reduce the price. Also, newly released upgraded components “might” lead to discounts to dispose of older products to make room for newer inventory or a sale promotion of their newer components. Timing prices can be risky. |
@mikhailark +1 I have a Pass XA25. Sounds great with stock cable. @roadcykler +1 As far as I can see Isotek cables are neither CE nor UL certified. True for many (most?) aftermarket power cables. Hmmm ... [Interestingly, Google AI inquiry suggests that they are, but checking source -- Isotek sales brochure -- does not show any indication to CE or UL certification. Another case of AI-hallucination. I think google finds the letter combination "ul" and "ce" in the document, therefore erroneously, AI thinks they meet the standard. NOT!] |
