Whats the right way to change horses

Never had the bucks to do real audiophile, but put together a nice Hegel H160 , Rel T9i and SF Concerto system that really worked for me for a few years (mostly single artist listening). Now at 70, I'm parting that out on Facebook MP and looking to move to some simple powered speakers. But thinking, wouldn't it be nice if you could just trade-in you're past gear for a new model, like cars.

I see the same thing with guitars, moving from steel sting acoustic Gibson guitars to nylon string Classical guitars, just no bridge there,,, not complaining, but seems like there should be a business that does that for you, so you don't have to.

OP:
Try doing a simple search for used audio gear & you should find one or two main resale sites. One is strictly used audio/video gear, the other also adds musical instruments to the mix..I don’t think it’s allowed to mention their actual names..FORGET using places like TMR,they will screw you by only giving you 20% of retail value, then Jack the price up when reselling(I guess that is exactly like trading in a car)....

I have had good experiences with TMR.  I believe you can get more for your gear if you sell it yourself but you save the hassle of doing so.  Plus, they pay all shipping costs.

I've had good success with TMR. They state they offer 65% of typical used price and I have found this to be true. Decision sometimes depends on how easy it is to sell and ship a particular item.  They will offer a better deal if you sell-buy...
