End Game Phono Preamp (tube)

Before you say ALLNIC a few caveats - I will only be using one TT so only need one input (MC). ALLNIC has up to 4 which is a lot of extra engineering I don't need and don't want to pay for. I'm coming from a very much loved Hagerman Trumpet MC with all the finest (to my ears) NOS tubes, external linear power supply, upgraded footers. It sounds terrific but I just have to scratch that itch to see if I can do better. If the only improvement I'll be getting by going up the food chain is less hiss, well, I can live with the existing hiss truthfully. I'd be expecting improved imaging, depth, resolution, cymbal decay beauty. Maybe I have it all now... if anyone has first hand experience with the Trumpet and can with an informed opinion offer a better option I'm all ears (hehe).

I am inclined to agree with Mambacfa--you will be happy with almost any high end phono stage.  Many do sound good and are relatively similar as compared to the more widely varying sound of amplifiers; line stages lie somewhere between phono stages and amplifiers.

I haven't heard the VTL model you selected, but, the company has a solid reputation.

While many of my favorite phono setups do use step up transformers, I don't think it is a necessary approach.  I've heard the Atmasphere preamps and they sound very good to me despite my general preference for a lot of iron in everything.

"VTL TP-6.5 Series II

I'm fairly certain this was a great choice. Carts for those that missed it: VDH Colibri Strad XGW, AT ART1000x, ZYX UNIverse III, AT ART20"

You're at the audiophool precipice now. Only move to make now is $ignificant investment  table/arm- for not so significant aural improvement?

I'd like to be in such a conundrum!
