Your turntable history

When did you get your first turntable and what’s been your turntable history since then ?

zavato

First TT. A$50.00 BSR turntable purchased in 1969.  When I started working in an audio store in 1972, I went through a bunch of turntables in no particular order:

Garrard Zero 100C

Kenwood manual belt drive

Empire 598 Troubador. (Should have kept it)

BIC turntable

Phillips GA212. Piece of plastic junk

Thorens turntable, lower cost one, don’t remember the model.

JVC direct drive, wish I kept it.
Reaga planar 3

B&O turntable, real garbage

VPI HW19 Jr with Rega RB300 arm

VPI HW19 Mk4 with infinity arm

VPI scout

Vpi Prime

Technics SL 1200 G, my final turntable and keeper.

Thanks for sharing your views and experience on the Unity arm. I'm not really in the market for a change. I have two 12" Universal and a 9" Tracer. If my dealer gets a SUPATRAC arm for demo, I might bring it home to try out on my Master Innovation. The Unity is just way out of budget, especially since I want to upgrade from my Naim pre/pwr components to Boulder 1100 series.

Who, me? No, I'm not fabricating a custom tonearm anytime soon, or even in my lifetime. I don't even have tools I would need to begin. Mostly, the desire to do something like that for myself isn't there.
