Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Sure. In comparison between the CS 2.4 and CS 3.7, the classic Thiel presentation and sound can be appreciated. Specifically, the larger CS 3.7 will require a larger Power Amp and Room to open up properly.

The CS 2.4 can live and thrive in a smaller space with less power amplification.

While the 3.7’s can handle more power the minimum recommended power for each is the same. That the minimum impedance is 3 Ohms for the 2.4’s  and 2.8  Ohms for the 3.7’s is more than offset by the 3.7’s greater sensiitivity of 90 dB @ 2.8 V 1-M vs. the 2.4’s senstivity of 87 dB @ 2.8 V 1-M. Suggesting that the 3.7’s will play almost twice as loud as the 2.4’s with the same amplification power output.

While the 3.7’s are 1.5" wider, 7’ deeper and 3.5" higher  than the 2.4’s they share the same recommended placement. The 2.4’s are spec’d to go down to 36 Hz +/- 2 dB and the 3.7’s are spec’d to go down to 33 Hz +/- 2 dB.  I doubt that many will find the slightly lower bass response and the larger dimensions of the 3.7's vs. the 2.4's sonicaly an overriding consideration in most rooms.
