EAT E-glo petite phono stage ( First Gen Model ) - Tube Rolling

Good Day everyone,

I recently acquired this Phono Preamp second hand in excellent condition. It came with the upgraded Sbooster BOTW Power Supply.

for those that have this phono preamp, can you give me some recommendations for other tubes to try other than the stock tubes that came with this unit?

can 12AD7 tubes be used with this unit?

Heater Current (Crucial): A 12AX7 draws 150 mA (at 12.6V) or 300 mA (at 6.3V). The 12AD7 draws 225 mA (at 12.6V) or 450 mA (at 6.3V). Do not use a 12AD7 if your amplifier uses a series-heater string (often found in certain vintage hi-fi gear), as the higher draw could overload or damage your power transformer.

They are swappable, but certain parameters need to be checked.

I would REALLY advise sending EAT an email to be sure.

I owned a gen 1 E-Glo Petit for a good long while; great little phone preamp and so convenient with the controls right there. You already have a better power supply which made more difference than any tubes I rolled. For new production I really liked the Sovtek 12AX7LPS. Places like Tube Depot will sort them for low noise and microphonics, which makes a big difference in a phono preamp. My fave vintage 12AX7 was Baldwin (the organ company) branded and I believe they were actually Sylvanias. They're harder to find and many vendors can't test for noise; I bought a quad and was lucky to find two that were well matched and low noise.

I wouldn't try the 12AD7 without consulting E.A.T.

I have that PS, but have not rolled any tubes. @mofimadness @armstrod  I've tried sending EAT emails before re tubes, even in German, and never got any reply. I also tried to talk to them at the recent Vienna show, but the three times I went to their booth, nobody was there. So customer service of EAT is severely wanting. Not recommended.
