1st Impression, Join the Forum?

I watched this forum for a while before I decided to join in 2019. I'm glad I did, however recently, if watching, I wonder if someone would enthusiastically join.

This was based on my initial experiences when joining the Sony Cybershot Forum on Digital Photography Review (dprreview.com) back in 2012.

Sony had announced a new game-changing camera, and I was among many wanting to learn more before it became available.

After joining, I found there were some nasty people, and many members who wasted their and everybody's time baiting and arguing, on and on. My 1st impression was not good, however, the coming camera (rx100m1 late 2012) made me stick around.

Thankfully, the nasty people went elsewhere, thus poor reactions lessened, and if someone joined after that, their 1st impression would be as it is now, one of the friendliest forums on the site. It has stayed very positive since around 2013.

Humor, I'm all for it, one mistake is to assume people 'get' my sense of humor, and I forget that English is not some members primary language.

I'm certainly no one's mom, morality police, but I would like to be proud of the forum.

Cameras, Audio Systems: I want everybody to get the best out of whatever they choose,

Photos speak a 1000 words.

I use this site to get any image on the web (photo, screenshot, scan).

I made a Virtual System here named ’misc’, and upload anything I want, then it’s on the web, ready to insert their way. Primitive or not, at least I figured it out.

There are indeed many knowledgeable people here who are generally kind to those in need. We do see posts by dealers who do not always declare themselves as such, and we do have an international membership. It does mean that when English is not one's first language then allowances must be made for what seem to be abrupt comments. If I really want good advice then this is my first port of call.

+1 especially @elliottbnewcombjr. Thankful for such a caring generous soul

I have also been on different audio forums and have been very active supporting the forum and the social activities the forum can generate for its members.

Social activities are a great way to meet and realise the fingertips used on a keyboard when met as a part of a whole person, presents somebody quite different to the keyboard persona who is most familiar. Keyboard Persona Foes become great chums with a beer in hand and a musical encounter filling a space.

I joined the Gon, because I know great audio experiences are able to be enjoyed without a Mortgage taken out for an audio system. Informing Gon Members that the $10K this; and the $20K that; are not necessary is my special contribution.

It goes out to all lookers-in and in-the-wings members who are not common in their keyboard usage.

@billstevenson, I just went through this exercise.  Since I couldn't post an image directly from my computer (why not @Audiogon?) in a comment, I loaded my system in My Profile for the first time, including a couple of photos.  Now I can use either of those to add to a discussion.

Or,I should be able to.  In spite of Elliots attempts to assist me I've not been successful in posting a photo without horizontal compression (re: his "enter 600" direction).  So after all his attempts I'm only half way there.
