@blackbird55 SAE is 100% Chinese owned. Is it SAE in name only? |
You're Welcome for that INFO, sounds like you are a man who knows his hobby well. I have the very hard to find SAE, A1001 and the also not so available if you can find one the A501 power Amplifiers and they have both been totally restored and re capped to Original Specs you are winning the game. I have to admit that I do have better sounding power amplifiers in my collection but understand that they are in the $3,000 to $5,000 price range. I have done side by side comparisons with amplifiers in that price range and both the A1001 and the A501 easily held its own or outperformed the other amps in my test. If someone today wanted to get in the game of Audiophile, I would recommend finding one of the two and have it recapped or restored if needed and you will be way ahead of the game with less cost for equipment and still be in a higher class of High-End stereo sound reproduction. One Caveat, you must use a preamp that has... SAE power amplifiers SYNERGY. I use the ADCOM GFP- 1A preamplifier, this preamplifier with either power amplifier delivers Supper High End Sound Quality. The synergy is like no other combination that I have been able to find in 37 years in this hobby. It is so good that I had to keep them together in a room specifically and specially for the sound they are producing in that room that is 13x22x9. I will not go into too much detail as I would like due to the variety of speakers that I play around with being several brands of towers and floor standers and the explaining that I would have to do in one post is not Conducive to this post at this time. I am a big user of the word SUBJECTIVE and for me to continue with me telling of everything that I have done to achieve this great sounding combination of sound quality would become Subjective in another room or space. So that being said I will just say SAE was somewhat overlooked at during the late 70s and early 80s for brands that were in the mainstream of HIFI at that time. SAE was what we in the high performing car industry would call a Sleeper back in the day and the same goes to this day for sure. Good Day and Peace to ALL |
The SAE you are mentioning from China is another brand using SAE Scientific Audio Electronics Name. it is not the same company. They have forums about those issues and the confusion of them using the true brand name of SAE. They don't sale anything in Hifi for $24,000 under their name SAE in China. Do the research before the post... it saves time and miss understanding. Good Day and Peace To All |
