I am looking for the 78 rpm pulley for a VPI motor.........Does anyone have one ??........Harry gave me one but I have misplaced it and I'm afraid to ask him for another one.......W

Curmudgeon perhaps a better word, and I think I spelled it right.

I had already written Steve at VAS and asked him if he has any advice for you. Let’s see his response, hopefully tomorrow.

Step outside, read your posts as if someone else wrote them, get your smile back.

"You’ll need an AC line voltage regenerator with variable frequency that can go up to 105Hz and beyond to play 78rpm with a 45 pulley, since the speed of the synchronous motor is set by the wall outlet frequency. The SDS only goes up to 90Hz.

A good reverse-engineer can perhaps modify an off-the-shelf AC inverter to put out a different frequency, as was done here. "

Well I'm happy for Harry, being alive is very good........I just found out they were closed.........So I will call them later...........Will

Steve's answer

"Only thing you can do is calculate out the math to make a new pulley.

I think the guy has a VPI Scout, so 11.5in platter w/ 600 rpm motor. So he needs like a 1.495" diameter pulley for the 78RPM.

Cutting to 1.5" diameter pulley will probably be ok too. Will end being 78.2 RPM but that's ok."
