Bricasti M1 Upgrade to MDx

Has anyone done this upgrade, but not done the rest immediately (Series II PSU / chassis or SE)? If so, how did it change the sound for you?

Sell your current M1 and just buy the new M1 Series II. I've been thrilled with my Bricasti M3.

FYI - The Bricasti M1 can be upgraded to the M1 Series II, which offers significant technological improvements such as the MDx digital platform and better power supplies. There is also an option to add remote control capability for full parametric control of the unit.

These upgrades can include:

• USB upgrade kit

• V2 power supply upgrade

• Network player upgrade (Ethernet and streaming functionality)

• Upgrade to M1 Series II DAC

• Remote control addition

• Special Edition upgrades like improved feet for vibration isolation and point-to-point wiring

The factory upgrade process involves contacting Bricasti with your M1 serial number, after which they provide details on available upgrades and pricing. Some upgrades require physical modifications to the unit such as re-machining the back panel for network access.

Thus, the Bricasti M1 offers a fairly extensive and well-supported upgrade path to keep the unit current and enhance its capabilities over time.

As I stated above, please call Bricasti and review these options with the Bricasti

The Bricasti M1 offers a fairly extensive and well-supported upgrade path spanning over 15 years since its 2010 debut, allowing owners to enhance performance without full replacement.

I updated my M1, bought in 2015, to a series 2 this year. I had updated to the mdx board in 2020. The update was easy- sent my unit in, and within a week, got it back. New chassis, and now my previously exterior remote control receiver is integrated into the M1.

Zavato, I  think the Op wants to know about the change in sound made with the MDX board only.

I had both MDX and S2 upgrade at the same time, so not what the op wants. I will say it was a big move up in sound, and I would recommend doing both.

I did the MDX upgrade when it was introduced which I think was around 2020. Very much a positive
