There has to be a tech/shop that can take it on. I use to go to a guy in N Virginia (Bill Thalmann at Music Technology) and he could repair and optimize anything. Sadly he passed away a few years ago. Much of his bus was shipped in to him. I too have TAD150 and love it. I worry about when it will need service. @nogaps , have you tried a universal remote, or a repair service? |
I've verified(I think) the remote works by using a cell phone camera to see the IR beam. It beams, I can see it, but I get no response from the preamp volume knob. So I have been assuming the problem is in the preamp volume electronics. Am I missing something? If a universal remote may work..I'm open. I have a repair place a ways south of me in the Chicago area that supposedly can fix anything. While that's wishful thinking, I haven't checked with them yet. I was using the preamp up until six months ago and used a passive pre for volume control..though getting it fixed would be nice. |
that's a different animal. My remote had a glitch once where it wasn't working, but it self corrected. I'm not sure where the IR receiver is but it must be behind one of the round windows where the tubes are, and I wonder if there can be some dust build up that's obscuring it. Given the symptoms (ie just volume doesn't work) maybe says it's in the electronics, but It's maybe worth a check. |
