2 channel vs headphones

Just curious how many of you have both a high end system but also listen to high end headphone systems as well?

Yep.  Headphones are the office "speakers".  Speakers three feet away on a desk is a little too near-field for me.  Let headphones do what they do best (great "nearfield").

I have a great headphone in my office that is maybe the most 2-channel sounding phone, the RAAL SR1a earphone. I also have a 2-channel speaker that sounds to me like the incredible and expensive RAAL 1995 Immanis headphone.

The Magnepan Mini is a great office speaker that I use BEHIND me about 3 feet away (so a headphone-like effect). The Mini being a Maggie you get a wall of sound with a lot of depth. The Mini also scales with the quality of gear you use with it. It is a cleaner sounding panel than the Magnepan LRS+.

At one time I had a CODA #16 amp and the imersiv D-1 DAC on this speaker. It was ridiculous how good that soiunded but it was also crazy to use $30k of gear on a $1k used speaker. I now use a $500 RME ADI-2 DAC and a $995 Class A Audio GenFet 6.5 amp. Not spectacular as before but I am very happy with this "headphone" setup.

Yep. The only way to go for early morning listening while wife is still asleep.

I mainly use headphones when others are sleeping in the the house or when traveling.

Yes, separates speaker system (see virtual system), open cans with dedicate HP amp (Dan Clark Ether 2 with Woo WA6SE with upgraded tubes), and IEMs with dongle DAC for on the road (Westone Mach80 with Dragonfly cobalt).
