PayPal just blocked my account for using F&F

I used to be steadfast in refusing to use F&F because it is less secure, but also because it cheats PP out of their fees. However, so many people are just as steadfast in their refusal to use regular PP that I finally gave up and started to do it. Now PP has flagged my account and locked it until I explain why I am using it.

It looks like the days of circumventing their fees by using F&F may be coming to a close.

Wondering what's the best alternative. They own Venmo now so that free option will probably go away. I have Zelle but the limit is so low it is impractical. I actually prefer ACH transfers, but so many people are paranoid about giving you their checking account info it is a struggle. BTW, the only info you have to give is what is printed on the face of every check you have ever written, but for some reason, a lot of people freak out when you ask them for it.

Ooof I’ve been wondering if they were going to crack down on that. I always accept G&S as seller, but some buyers ask to save a few bucks by F&F, and I’ll also sometimes send via F&F.

Thanks for the warning; guess I’ll have to stop doing that so I don’t get locked down. That’s absolutely awful if they just locked you down without warning first?! Hopefully they don’t make it hard to get your account back.

"You made F&F an OPTION and I’m a friendly guy". What more justification do they need? If they don’t like it then they should take the option away. OR better yet - allow us to configure a small enumeration of "friends and family" accounts which allow this method. Similar to the "home device counter" on streamers.

I am officially done with PayPal.  I bought an expensive piece of equipment using my CC via PayPal through Audiogon.  Unfortunately, the item didn’t work and a refund was issued to me a couple of days later.  The refund was in PayPal limbo for  7 business days, then rerouted to the CC issuer for the refund.  It took 4 more business days for it to show up in my CC account and finally cleared after 12 business days.  PayPal had the money for a total of 11 business days before it got to my bank.

This was definitely my last PayPal transaction and my last Audiogon transaction. Never, ever again.

Unless one has absolute confidence in the integrity of the seller, it's better to simply tack the 3.5% fee onto the total, make seller whole, and consider the fee as transaction insurance. Any reputable seller should agree to this. Some sellers are willing to split the fee. At least if there is an issue, while it may take some time to PP to process a refund, at least there will be a refund. With F&F, the buyer is completely exposed.

I bought an item Wednesday on USAM, I used PayPal F&F and was charged a fee. So it's already here.
