amp I bought 3 days ago not powering on - electrical engineer advice wanted

I bought a used Musical Fidelity A380 in good condition. Played it every day, worked fine.

Today it did not turn on. There were no sign of failure yesterday. Could it be a fuse or power supply?

The tech wouldn’t lie. Would he?

The ironic tragedy of audio repair is that it has to be lived forward, but it only makes sense looking back.

Some sellers indicate “no pets or smoking”.

@devinplombier …but if the gear itself smells like an ashtray and stinks up your house.

It can be very, very challenging to get the smoke smell out; even more so if a thoughtful seller doused the thing in Febreze, leaving you to deal with the revolting Febreze stench, which is even harder to get out than smoke.

Exactly. My household has non-smokers, so anything that reeks with smoke smell is a definite no-go.

If not indicated, I would ask if from a smoke free environment.

ok @thecarpathian

so he ordered it from ebay and it hasn't arrived.

However, he is lying, according to you. What is his end game. What is he benefitting from lying?

Well, if it's coming by Orc I believe it comes with SPT, Sauron Package Tracking.

That big ass eyeball ought to know where it is!😀

In other, less nonsensical terms;

He must have been given a tracking number. You might ask him where it’s at presently or if he could share the tracking number with you so you can know when it arrives without having to call for updates. See what he says. This all of course hinges on whether the amp exists solipsismically or not.
