Listening habits.

Many on this forum seem to listen to LP’s almost exclusively.
I’m wondering of those of you who do, how many have done so since the fall of CDs and how many have just never stopped listening to records?

I grew up on cassettes and CDs in the 90s. No vinyl. Started "audiophiling" early 2000s, and bounced around trying to find a CD player / DAC I was happy enough with. Best I had at that point was a Meridian G08 for Redbook CD, and Sony SCD-1 for SACD. When I put together my first vinyl deck (at a bit less than the G08’s cost), it sounded a LOT better to me for most of the music I care about. That still holds today, and I’ve been mostly vinyl sourced since then. I do some FLAC / CD / streaming - and some of the CDs from Japan in particular sound really good (so I don’t think the 44.1 / 16 is to blame here) - but overall it’s still not up with vinyl for me, again aggregated over most music. And I’m definitely not a fan of streaming yet, except for more casual listening or exploration.

I see no reason to limit format unless a dalliance or three becomes dilutive to some imaginary or real higher plane of sonic bliss… I’m thinking after listening to Robbie Robertson solo effort S/T, I should pick up a DAT….

two hands a 4 turntables sometimes need a break… plus streaming is insane access to new music that may never be properly mastered / pressed into the hopefully flat black disc

I mainly listen to vinyl now, although I did take a break form 2019 to 2024. Prior to that I pretty evenly split between vinyl and ripped CDs. For the past couple of years, vinyl has dominated my listening.

I never stopped listening to records, even after the CD craze.  I bought a lot of CDs but always preferred the sound of LP’S.  Until recently.  Now, with my new streamer, the gap between analog and digital sonically has disappeared. But I still listen to records.   Never stopped.

Still listen to LP's but infrequently. Same for CD's. Still have collections of both, just too old and lazy to bother. Also have a decent streamer that does lossless files pretty well.
