JBL 640 - a ported floor-stander with two six-inch woofers. Bought at my local CT Goodwill for $48. My cousin and his son stopped by to purchase my Dual TT. I  demonstrated the 640's with a Pink Floyd DSOTM CD. I was surprised how great these JBL's sounded! I told my cousin he should buy them and get rid of his ancient L100's. They were that great sounding! My cousin declined to buy them - he being excessively frugal. So months later I did find a buyer for $200. Now I regret selling them!

I presently own JBL 166 Horizon's and 4312's in storage. My daily speakers have been later- production DCM Time Windows for 8:years. They are much better sounding!

I had a pair of JBL L166’s that were lost in a divorce. I don’t know how they would stack up to modern speakers in their range but they were amazing in their day. I currently own a pair of Revels and their sonic signature is quite different from what I remember the 166’s to be.

The Revel F36 were great for the money but absolutely need a subwoofer.

The F208 have been a significant step up. Nearly full range. Fantastic sound. Great well balance frequency response.

Sometime older turns out to sound better. My revel Performa f52 sound more forward, And to me, better then my f208 speakers. Still love the f20s
