Sadly these speakers are just wearing out, after close to 30 years of loyal service. Any suggestions for replacement with impactful bass, big soundstage, immediacy, good detail and a neutral tonal balance ? Would like to keep it under 15 grand.

You should look into what happens if one of the amps goes bad in the speakers because it happens, especially because you seem to keep your gear for the long term. Personally I wouldn’t go there, but that’s me.
It’s a good sonic buy at its price point. However, at 15k budget there are a lot of other great choices, so best option is to demo yourself to hear speakers that subjectively resonates with you. There are a lot of great sounding speakers, but the best within budget is a personal subjective choice.
I have fond memories of my pair of VR4 Silvers back in 1996. I had been auditioning them at the local dealer for a while but heard them at Hi-Fi 96 in Manhattan. I also got to meet Albert. That experience pushed me to order a pair when I got home. I loved those speakers and kept them for about three years, they just do so much right with only a few shortcomings. Good luck with whatever you end up with.
