Could also be a replacement unit. IMO if possible always get the SE version
audio research purchase
There is a REF6 advertised for sale and the seller states it was purchased direct from ARC. It’s my understanding they do not sell direct, only through dealers, except for tubes and whatever.
Am I correct? I know I can contact ARC but it's the weekend.,and I prefer to call.

yes ask them directly - there can be plenty of 'exceptions' to the dealer policy at arc, for a variety of reasons, as others here have mentioned futhermore. some sellers on us audiomart are in fact smaller retail dealers who don’t identify themselves as such on the site when they post used items for sale |
