My first album in the 70's was Black Sabbath's Paranoid. I've been a metal-head ever since. I've progressed with it right up until about two years ago. With few exceptions, every metal-head knows the 70's, 80's and early 90's albums, so I won't get into those. However, there is a lot of great post-millennial metal. You just have to dig a little harder. I'll mention a few that may be somewhat obscure, but there's a lot more than this. (Doom metal) Trees of Eternity - Hour of the Nightingale Draconian - Sovran (Thrash) Warfect - Exoneration Denied (Death) Aeon - Aeons Black Feasting on Darkness - The Black Cloud (instrumental) (Metalcore) Cataract - With Triumph Comes Loss (Groove) The Destro - Harmony of Discord (Guitar) Michael Romeo - War of the Worlds - Part 1 |
@jafant - by 'landed', do you mean when the band started or when their first albums came out? 'Bonded By Blood' didn't come out til '85, but had been going since '79. Dave Mustaine didn't form Megadeth until after he left Metallica. I was fortunate enough to see Metallica in the very early 80's at a club in San Francisco when Mustaine was still in the band, and Cliff hadn't even joined on bass yet. |
