The HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL Thread Continued

Not a very popular genre on this forum, it appears, but, HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL FANS, feel free to share some worthwhile tracks.

My first album in the 70's was Black Sabbath's Paranoid. I've been a metal-head ever since. I've progressed with it right up until about two years ago.

With few exceptions, every metal-head knows the 70's, 80's and early 90's albums, so I won't get into those. However, there is a lot of great post-millennial metal. You just have to dig a little harder. I'll mention a few that may be somewhat obscure, but there's a lot more than this.

(Doom metal)

Trees of Eternity - Hour of the Nightingale

Draconian - Sovran

(Thrash)

Warfect - Exoneration Denied

(Death)

Aeon - Aeons Black

Feasting on Darkness - The Black Cloud  (instrumental)

(Metalcore)

Cataract - With Triumph Comes Loss

(Groove)

The Destro - Harmony of Discord

(Guitar)

Michael Romeo - War of the Worlds - Part 1

I don’t think you can deny the double bass drumming of Dave Lombardo and the sound it created in Heavy Metal. In my opinion any of the nine Slayer albums that he played on were his best work!

Absolutely!  Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer landed at the same time. Anthrax, Exodus and Testament were not far behind. Then, there are the European thrash acts from the 80's.  Good Times.

Happy Listening!

@jafant - by 'landed', do you mean when the band started or when their first albums came out? 'Bonded By Blood' didn't come out til '85, but had been going since '79. Dave Mustaine didn't form Megadeth until after he left Metallica. I was fortunate enough to see Metallica in the very early 80's at a club in San Francisco when Mustaine was still in the band, and Cliff hadn't even joined on bass yet.
