Upgrade Suggestions please

Hey All,

I'm running an Eversolo A6 with Beatechnik LPS to a Merason DAC1 Mk2 via Supra Excalibur USB. Sounds really good but still pales to my analog rig. Any suggestions on where to upgrade to get closer to vinyl?

I have tried to get to the place where you’re aiming and feel pretty good about where I’ve landed.  As others have noted, it’s not a fair comparison to compare a relatively inexpensive digital rig with a very expensive analog rig.  For me, I still enjoy rig more but that has more to do with the tactile experience of it and the fact that I seek out the best sounding vinyl so there is selection bias.  That said, objectively, I think my digital rig sounds as good as my vinyl with the same well recorded music.  For analog, I have a Clearaudio Performance DC Wood with a Sumiko Starling and a Keces LPS running into a Gold Note PH10+PSU10 - all in somewhere in the low 5 figures at MSRP. For Digital, I went simple and run an Aurender A15 with ethernet run through an ifi filter thing - all in just shy of $10k at current MSRP.  Both systems are aimed at my preferences for musicality over extreme detail.  Both run into a Pass INT-25 into DeVore Gibbon 9.  Both are a very enjoyable listen so my choice is driven by my mood based on whether I feel like interacting with the system (vinyl) or trying new music etc (digital).

@audphile1 Just a loss of fullness I think. Listening to the first pressing of Abbey Road is just spine tingling in its dynamics, fullness of vocals and instruments. Ringo’s thumpy drumming and highhat!!! Everything just very real. The streaming versions sound lighter, thinner, not as alive. That’s the best I can describe.

@jecopo and @audphile1  Yes, I’m starting to think the same way. Streaming has really opened up my exploration of new music and has resulted in some vinyl purchases. And its great fun exploring musical rabbit holes with seemingly limitless discovery. I think I need to change my mindset and embrace what you stated. Streaming as an exploratory tool. Again, its only in A/B comparing to vinyl that I felt disappointment in my digital rig.

While I’m not familiar with the connectivity options between your eversolo and dac I see you are linking the 2 via usb. Before exploring other gear I suggest that if you are able to connect the eversolo and dac via and aes digital cable, try that. My own experience is that my streamed music sounded better after I ditched usb.
