Thrust Pads are typically the cheaper range of Thermoplastics materials where POM is the common selected material, but PEEK is the Thermoplastic material that most resists indentations from the Ball when additional weight is being added.
I have seen an investigation on a TT many years passed, where such concerns are being addressed. The TT was used excessively used throughout one year, using POM. The Bearing Tear Down showed noticeable to the eye indentation when a Platter Weight has been more than doubled. In normal usage rotations it was suggested that the indentation would have taken much longer to manifiest.
