Wayne rebuilt my ESL-63s in 2017. The first thing that happened was he said my Quads had been damaged in shipping. It was never clear what happened. As our relationship progressed I began to wonder if that was his way to extract extra money from me. We exchanged dozens and dozens of emails over the course of the rebuild and became what I would describe as friends. He told me about his nearly daily trips to drug rehab, for example. But it was also a very worrisome period for me because he was taking “forever” to complete the rebuild and there were attempts to charge me extra. When I finally got my Quads back and listened to them I nearly shouted out loud with joy and excitement at how wonderful they sounded. All the worrisome issues faded away instantly.. I meant to keep in touch but I never did. I feel so sad that he had so many insurmountable problems with his health.
in reading over this thread it appears that I was among the last group of customers he must have dealt with! I feel incredibly lucky that my Quads were treated to his expertise. And most importantly that I got them returned to me finished and sounding exceptional. I don’t know what sort of “magic” he put into his rebuilds but they were apparently exceptionally musical as a result of his expertise..
