The Quicksilver HPA is also worth a look. Best of luck.
New Amp Advice
I'm reviving my headphone system a bit for use while watching sports, etc. I have ZMF Verite Open phones which are 300ohm and will use a Simaudio 390-which was in my two channel system quite a few years ago and I never bothered to sell-for DAC/streaming.
I'd like to acquire a tube amp-under$3k-used is fine. At this point, I'm considering ZMF Aegis, Feliks Euforia Evo, and Woo Audio WA-22 2nd gen. I'm not a headphone guru, and I'm interested in any insights from those who have experience with these, or maybe other suggestions not on my list.
Thanks!

I spent decades improving my headphone systems. The I discovered Woo about 20 years ago. They took my headphone systems up a huge jump. I own three Woo headphone amps. My favorite is the WA5. But I will recommend any Woo headphone amp. They have been a league above any of the dozen of other amps I have owned. Also, great service. Call if you have questions. |
@ghdprentice Thanks- i appreciate that advice. The WA 22 definately on my list and your opinion moves it up. |
I'm late to this thread but can't resist a response. Those ZMFs are nice headphones! As you probably know, the Aegis is essentially the ZMF house amp and should work very well with your headphones. It's big and heavy but has excellent versatility with a range of headphones. It's over your budget new but can sometimes be found under $3k on the used market. (TMR has one now.) I'd say it's kind of a niche amp with a bit of a DIY vibe but gets a lot of love in the headphone community. You might also consider the Cayin amps. Zach at ZMF swears by them and most of them are under your budget, new. I've never heard one, but they're quite popular. |
