Maybe Leaving SET for Solid State because I want bass

Looking for a recommendation of an amp to power a pair of 12 in 2 way bass reflex studio monitor with 96db sensitivity. My SET amp sounds lovely and pure but is bass shy. Looking for a sweet solid state amp with some slam. I've heard my setup with a pair of Herron Monos and a Pass Sit-3. Herron had the bass but was otherwise unsatisfying. Pass was a little lean. Budget is $3-5K on the used market. Even something on the lower cost end that would give me a taste of what I'm looking for as proof of concept would be great to start out with.

Thanks in advance!

12" ported speaker will be lucky to get 50-60 hz. My 15" only gets to 32 hz.

So, I would look for a subwoofer if you want more bass, but the most controlled bass on that 15" was the Atma-Sphere mono's . You can get them in your price range used.

Good Luck!

Whilst not owning one myself, competent audiophiles I know and trust have and love it.  Used, within stated price range.  Good hunting.

Last year I brought home a 300B SE 5 Watt Amp'.

When the JJ Valves were added, on my HE Speakers with a 12" Coaxial Driver, the JJ Valves were creating the impression more Bass was being raised that my 845 PP Monoblocks.

No I was not expecting such a outcome either, but the 300b's have huge Tranx's and I'm sure the magic is to be found their.
