Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Today, is a very special occasion indeed as we celebrate and observe the 10th Anniversary here on AudiogoN. It all started with Post #1. Now there are 283 Pages, 14134 Posts and 1,241,571 Views (and counting)!.  Since inception, my objective was to find a few like-minded Souls and spread the word about Thiel Audio Loudspeakers. As it turns out, there are more than a few of Us who enjoy and support James Thiel's vision on the ultimate speaker. Modern or Vintage, there is a Model for every Audiophile. No doubt , that 2026 will be another banner year for new members and opportunities to continue Our mission.

I Want to Thank The Panel For Making This Thread Happen Since 2016.

This thread is dedicated to Audiophiles, Fans and Owners of our beloved loudspeakers.  Salute!

Happy Listening!

Welcome! Greg to this thread.  Thank You for posting such an insightful first introduction. Continue reading through all of the pages here. There is a plethora of information to absorb. Now, to address your query. The McIntosh C-52 is a pre-amp with modern technology. Have you considered a few options for a MAC power Amp?  Otherwise, the Accuphase P-7500 is a fine choice as duramax747 outlines.

Next, I would stop by Audible Elegance there in Cincinnati to check out other considerations. It never hurts to shop around for advice plus an in-store auditon. The Zebra wood finish on your CS 2.2 speakers is quite beautiful. I look forward in reading more about your journey.

Happy Listening!

OK, but why are you still telling me about cables?  I’ve already pointed out I don’t care about the cables. I’ve been asking about  your experience with your Thiel speakers.  I appreciate that you started this thread, but I just find it so strange that you seem to talk so little about your own experience with your Thiels… and just keep talking about cables instead.

— “All models were mid-level for casual listening around my Life/Work cycle.“—-

What models?  I thought you only owned the 2.4SE?  Did you pick up some more Thiels?  In no way do I mean to suggest you have to listen in any other way than the way you listen.  But I would have thought that somebody who created and maintained a thread about Thiel speakers for this many years would have been using them for more than just “casual listening.”

Or is it that you are so fixated on cables that almost 10 years later, you’re still not ready to talk about the sound of your Thiels until you find your unicorn cables ?

Is anybody else here confused by these replies?

Would perplexed be a better word? I don't know. But I do know that jafant has helmed this thread for 10 years (happy anniversary!); thanks to his stewardship and the passage of time it has become an invaluable reference for Thiel owners, which I am not one at present, yet I subscribe for various reasons ranging from the civil tone - a welcome respite from so many Audiogon threads - to Tom Thiel's recounting of fascinating stories, business parables and history lessons.

I would not begrudge anyone the way they listen to music anymore than I would criticize anyone's musical tastes. And I'm still looking forward to welcoming a pair of CS5i home one of these days :)
