worth the repair?

I Just purchased a McIntosh MA 252 and connected it to my vintage Marantz 2270 and Tascam 200 CD. My speakers are B&W 603 s2.I turned it on and before playing a cd I head a loud crackle and one speaker went dead. I fear my connections are bad, need help from an expert. Question is, is it worth repairing the speakers with this setup? I always liked them, but maybe time to upgrade, like to B&W or Sonus Faber.Opinions?  What do you think B&W would charge before I pay the cost of mailing.

@pharmacylaw before you do anything else, take that amp out and have a technician go over it. You will most likely fry every speaker you connect to it.

Must be missing something.  Why connect vintage pre into a new integrated?  What was the intent?  Best of luck sorting it out.

Try the Marantz 2270 by itself to see if it's the speakers or the McIntosh. Disconnect the McIntosh completely.

There's multi meters out there dirt cheap you can test the resistance of the speakers. Each speaker should have the same number. My speakers were 4.3 so once you determine if speaker is or not fried stop using the receiver and integrated together (for now) and use 1 and then the other. If everything survived your experiment you got lucky, but likely something's toast and now you know which it is.
