What is your experience with Magico A3 or A5 speakers and the company as a whole?

Just auditioned a pair of Magico A3 and A5 speakers to replace my 20 year old B&W 802D (1st gen diamond).

Does anyone have any experience with either of these speakers since they are not cheap.

Also, not familiar with Magico as a company. Are they reputable, how is their customer service if you have an issue, etc. My electronics are PSaudio, and their customer service is 2nd to none.

Also, how safe is it to have a Beryllium tweeted in my home. I heard that if it breaks it is very dangerous to inhale any dust particles. For instance, Focal Sopra 3 put a metal cage around their Beryllium tweeter to keep probing fingers away from it. But the Magico speaker, it is unprotected. Heck, even the speaker does not come with a dust cover.

Please, any thoughts......and suggestions

What did you think of the Magico speakers and what electronics were they partnered with?  What specific improvements are you looking for and what sound/speaker characteristics are most important to you?

Good Question: The store I went to had them connected to Passe monoblocks with an Aurender streamer.

I own a PSaudio BHK preamp and 300 mononblocks with a Mark Levinson 5101 cd/streamer

I'm looking for more bass and less brightness. More of a natural sound. What struck me about the Magico was that vocals, especially very old recordings sounded very listenable.

If you are looking for natural sound and in particular musicality it is difficult to go past Sonus Faber. They are not for everyone and if you like the brightness of B&W  they may not be right for you. Focal, Wilson, B&W and Magico in my opinion fit into a similar sound bracket but my end of life aspiration speaker is the Sonus Faber Serifino. Horses for courses I guess but if I was stuck with Magicos I would get a tube pre, at least, from the likes of ARC, VTL, VAC etc

You should listen to Rockport if possible.  If you’re in the southeast you could come listen to mine.

In the price range of Magico A5 ; you may look at Audiovector R6 Arreté.

Two fireing down woofers ; two front 6 inchs midrange ; one 3 inchs rear midrange ; and one

AMT tweeter
