My only experience listening to Magico is with the S5 Mk2 being driven by Convergent amp/preamp. The whole system sounded exceptional. I've heard they're difficult to drive, but the CAT amps drive them with musical ease.
What is your experience with Magico A3 or A5 speakers and the company as a whole?
Just auditioned a pair of Magico A3 and A5 speakers to replace my 20 year old B&W 802D (1st gen diamond).
Does anyone have any experience with either of these speakers since they are not cheap.
Also, not familiar with Magico as a company. Are they reputable, how is their customer service if you have an issue, etc. My electronics are PSaudio, and their customer service is 2nd to none.
Also, how safe is it to have a Beryllium tweeted in my home. I heard that if it breaks it is very dangerous to inhale any dust particles. For instance, Focal Sopra 3 put a metal cage around their Beryllium tweeter to keep probing fingers away from it. But the Magico speaker, it is unprotected. Heck, even the speaker does not come with a dust cover.
Please, any thoughts......and suggestions

From all reports Magico customer service is great but search these forums and see some whom had issues had to pay shipping to and from Magico located in CA. If on the East coast this will be costly. Each time I've heard them they just don't have the life in them. Too clinical sounding but accurate, yes sounds like an oxymoron. Not my flavor but many find them wonderful YMMV. |
@onehorsepony pretty good sounding but not for the asking price are they worth the splurge imo |
Good Question: The store I went to had them connected to Passe monoblocks with an Aurender streamer. I own a PSaudio BHK preamp and 300 mononblocks with a Mark Levinson 5101 cd/streamer I'm looking for more bass and less brightness. More of a natural sound. What struck me about the Magico was that vocals, especially very old recordings sounded very listenable. |
