Alternative to my P3ESR
I have a pair of Harbeth P3ESR in my desktop set-up, powered by a Primaluna Dialogue Premium with KT150 power tubes. I love the imaging and mids, especially in acoustic music, but I miss the mid-bass. I have a Rel T5, but it's helping the lowest bass, not giving that mid-bass thump I am looking for. I tried a few solid-state amps but missed the tube sound - and they both felt fatiguing in comparison.
Any suggestions on an alternative standmount at a similar price that I should consider for near-field listening? I'm about four feet from the speakers, they're three feet from the back wall.

@yogiboy i was feeling lazy so I paid the extra to have them put it together. But yes, you can save the extra couple hundred or so and put it together yourself. I probably should have mentioned that as well. Thanks for correcting my oversight. |
Have you exhausted subwoofer setup, like increasing crossover frequency and lowering gain? This said, I was never able to get AB1 woofers to mate well with my LS3/5a's (but they had a major bump in the upper bass). I learned years later (sold the Rogers gear in 1986) that the combo worked much better when not using the AB1's as stands and instead placing them off to the side(s). So, maybe sub placement as well?
