I have never used an eq and I am considering it. I want to tame the hi freq. just a little. All sugestions welcome. Pros and cons. After thought also brining up the mids a little.
Some modern amps don’t easily allow the insertion of EQ into the signal path. So please share with us what amp you use, and also what your comfort level is with computer technology, because DSP based room/eq is a thing that might help…or terrify…you. The Schiit Lokius is what I use, and it is super simple if your gear has the right connectivity. McIntosh has some models with similar facilities built in.
I’m using a McIntosh MQ112 Environmental Equalizer.
i only use it for old song touch up, not for room EQ. It’s very clean and trust the quality. It has a bypass switch, and usually run it like that, unless some songs need touch up.
Add in the Charter Oak Peq-1. No noise, completely transparent. You’ll keep it a long long time. Amazing pro finishing device. Really useful for music you love with less than optimal recording parameters. Find it used if even possible.
