Would like company.

I’m a friendly very young minded 86 year old (as you can determine by my posts here on A’gon. My problem is I’m not very mobile, great difficulty traveling,  I would love to share my company and high end system with a like minded person from this forum. I live in  Nassau county on Long Island.

Feel for you for sure. Might try showing up

on a Saturday at local brick n mortar HiFi store assuming you have one, with a couple of pizza..   Stereo Unlimited in San Diego appreciate stuff like that…. Feed the people….

I would love to share my system and hear others and I'm in Orange County CA.  I know we have a local club, but it is so spread out and their FB page left a bad taste in my mouth in that only certain members could post.

Also, they keep e-mailing me to join them for zoom meetings but then don't recognize me when I try to go there.  I just didn't need that kind of thing.

Unfortunately, almost no one listens to properly reproduced music these days.  Most just are impressed by loud bass in modern music.  It’s a sign of the times, I suppose: end of the middle to middle-upper class in the near future, and a return to peasantry, where most just struggle for subsistence.  Music is life, but most seem only concerned about living: paying the bills, and have no time for more refined, cultured activity.  Football is entertaining, and that’s enough entertainment for most everyone:  bread and circuses.  It was a good 75 years for most.  Enjoy your time with your music!

Social Media has taken over for in person human interaction.  Have you been to a restaurant and seen a bunch of twenty somethings sitting at a table, not interacting with each other, on their phones?

I would consider moving to a Senior Residence.  Get one with common areas where people sit, play cards, or games like Scrabble that keep the brain agile. …

That would no doubt require a culling of your audio equipment and your physical media, but you can trade down to a decent smaller system with a headphone option.  As your previous threads have indicated you have been mulling this over.

It’s time.  Having companionship will keep you going
