Thank You! I have no doubt that Accuphase makes great SACD players. But I am extremely happy with the performance of the T+A DAC 200 that I use EXCLUSIVELY in DSD mode using HQ Player.
Accuphase amplifier choice
Hello All,
I have decided to upgrade my Parasound A21 amplifier looking for a more refined sound. The following are the amplifiers that I have in my mind:
Accuphase A-48s
Accuphase P-4600
Coda No. 8 (meterless)
Coda 16.0 (meterless)
Currently I am leaning largely to Accuphase. My dealer says that the Class A 48s will sound better with my ProAc D48R. But I am worried that I will lose dynamics since the Accuphase is only 50W into 8 Ohms. But it doubles all the way into 1 ohm.
The P-4600 is a higher wattage amp and I think it should be able to drive the D48R with ease because it doubles down to 2 ohm load. So I am not concerned with it's ability to drive the ProAcs.
I do have some feedback on the P-4600 from another thread here and appreciate it. But now looking for some comparisons.
Has anyone compared/experienced the Accuphase Vs Coda amplifiers? Any feedback is appreciated.

@westcoastaudiophile you have your opinion and you are entitled to it. But you DO NOT know what I experienced. Yeah it is not measurable YET - similar to how hundreds of year ago, people were not able to prove that the earth was not flat THEN. As science progressed the truth was revealed. Please do not tell me that humans have reached the pinnacle of audio measurements. |
I agree with you. Listening is subjective by nature. When someone dismisses another person’s direct experience because it conflicts with their narrative, it says more about their bias than the validity of the experience. Measurements are valuable, but they don’t yet explain everything we hear or perceive. I believe forums work best when people share experiences rather than try to invalidate others. |

@lalitk +1 "Measurements are valuable, but they don’t yet explain everything we hear or perceive.” yep, standard measurements, w/ typical low grade test equipment, noisy manufacturing floor env., and “managers” pushing to increase productivity at any cost, including quality impact, are indeed inferior to our hearing, - correct! I have decades long experience in circuit design, including burn-in, and also, I helped many well known musicians to figure out what they were complaining about sound, by identifying problem, replicating “sensitive” usage condition on the bench and fixing problem/s.
