Why the need for sending a passcode through cell phone.

....to log on? This isn't my bank account, or my secret chat room with my lady friends (shhh). Maybe others do, but my cell is not attached to my hip. Very annoying when you have to upstairs to get your phone after trying to log on. This stuff has gone way too far. IMO....let the pelting begin.

@troutbum.  Same problem here.  All you gotta do is take your phone with you.  I still forget to do that sometimes myself.

On the positive side, I believe that the constant log in / prove human issues, have saved me a lot of money as I check in way less often...easy on computer, awful on phone...

@troutbum , agreed.  I don’t carry my phone all over the house.  It sits on top of the microwave hutch in kitchen. My desktop computer is on the second floor of my home.  Most times my phone is downstairs and with my arthritis, going back down 13 stairs and then back up discourages me from visiting Audiogon.  That’s the main reason I’m not on as much as I used to be.  I’ve missed out on some good equipment being sold as well.

You can change that in the settings, I believe. Remove the 2FA (multi-factor authentication) from your account, unless you have linked a credit card or PayPal to the Audiogon account.

But for all your emails and other “transactional” accounts, you MUST enable it. None of my business, of course, but it’s your life, money and credit. We are still years away from real-life quantum computing. But current hacking is far more  sophisticated and one phish can wreck you. Good luck!

It’s the times, crooks getting sophisticated so security trying to push 2 types of authentication. Seems if only 1 authentication, much easier target with today’s sophisticated computer program tools and expertise.

Missing the simpler days of cops n robbers.
