Thick aluminum has served me well for quite a while.
Component faceplates
Predominantly components these days have faceplates that are either silver or black. There are a few exceptions, and some hybrids where the faceplates have strong black and silver features.
Does faceplate cosmetics influence your purchase decision and where you can get a component that offers either black or silver, what’s your choice?

Faceplate color hasn't been important to my component selection. In my music system, I have silver for my Sony SACD player and Pass preamp and mooblocks, blue for McIntosh tuner, grey for Manley phono preamp, and black for Nakamichi cassette player and various external power supplies. Elsewhere I have a black Magnum Dynalab tuner for which a gold faceplate has been very tempting, tho it would clash with the rest of that system which is black. |
