Why redbook over SACD?

Why are there designers of expensive cd transports who do not include the possibility of playing SACDs? Only redbook.

I know this is a choice. They do not believe in this technology.

Why is that?

Just wondering - have you ripped your CDs so you can stream them?  Or is your streaming dependent on buying external streaming subscriptions?   I can understand why you’d prefer to play your own CDs if your streaming is confined to subscriptions services, but not if you’ve ripped them.

i did rip my entire CD collection of 2000 CDs and have quite a nice set of equipment which makes for good sound when streaming them and I don’t think I’ve played a CD since except to compare the SQ between my ripped and streamed CDs with those played through my Triode CD player.  I can hear no difference.
I have a fully restored B&O Beogram 4004 turntable that cost me a pretty penny to restore and I have to force myself to use it because streaming is so effortless.  And I am so spoiled that I rarely play my Ayre SACD Player, all because streaming is so effortless.

I just XMass gifted myself Japanese SACD reissues of Von Karajan Mahler 6 and 9.  I can’t wait

@echolane to answer your question, yes I have ripped maybe 2000 cds and as you say they sound fine.  Unfortunately I keep wanting to look back at the meta data so wind up pulling out the discs anyway to read the notes.  Ergo, most of the time I might as well just spin the discs.  So I have given up on that idea.  @mark200mph Would you comment on your 10XD vs. your SACD-10?

The marantz is a bargain compared to luxman d 10x.you can read the reviews on both. If you want good quality at reasonable price it's a used marantz.some had issues with the laser but I have not and there are discussions on where to find them. The reviews do a much better job than I can. They say the luxman is more mellow than esoteric. I have a luxman tube cd ?380 and like it but not sacd. I do like the spinners. The marantz has 2 filters as well. Enjoy the education and the hunt.

Why?
Because I have over 700 redbook CD’s and do not feel it necessary to invest in SACD’s.
Pretty simple.
