Research for subwoofer

I have Bryston model T bookshelf speakers connected to a Luxman 509 that plays high res "Qbuz" music, jazz, pop, classical. ETC.   I am considering agreeing a sub but would like some opinions of what might work well with this set up.  The sub would have to go on the floor, could be powered or not.  Would like to build more of a stage with additional bass.

Thoughts?

Thanks Dave

it has been a year or so, but when i reached out to rel they responded back to me within a couple days then spoke to me on the phone when i requested that...

Two subs, not one. Beside your main speakers.

Mine are JL Audio. Powered.

Transformed my already-good-sounding B&W 803 D3 main speakers.

Suggest that you check out HSU subwoofers at;

I have two of Dr. Hsu’s subs and could not be more pleased. They accurately produce bass that I refer to as “tight and right” through all of the lower frequencies. Also you can give Dr. Hsu a call at (714) 386-9727.  His facilities are located in Anaheim, Ca.  Dr. Hsu or his right hand man, Kevin, will be happy to talk subs and your specific needs/set-up with you.  Their shipping cartons are built like tanks with steel reinforced corners.  I’m fortunate in that I’m only a 30 minute drive from Dr. Hsu’s Anaheim facility.  I’ve had several more “well known” brand name subs but I’ve been very impressed with my two Hsu units. Website has a wealth of info.
Enjoy the music.
