When I built my sand boxes, pictured above, I simply bought dry "Play Sand" at Home Depot. $10 per 50 lb bag. Needed three. Do they make any difference? My ears aren't that golden, but the concept of sand for vibration isolation is well documented and I wanted the amps off the floor. So I'll assume there is a benefit, whether I hear it or not, like so many tweaks in this hobby. At least this one is affordable and serves a purpose. Cheers.
Recommendations for custom amp stands?
My new amps (Jadis JA-200 MkII) do not fit on my current stands and they are odd sized".
I have some ideas on how to adapt my current stand and a homemade solution (I am fairly handy) but wonder about any custom stand makers that wont break the bank.
I need 2 stands to fit 2 12"x27" chassis each or 4 stands to 1 12"x 27" chassis each.
Thoughts?

@bigtwin I forgot I have some sand boxes I bought a decade or so ago. Let me go look for them an d check the dimensions. Great job BTW, they look great! |
@ervikingo The beauty here is you can make the stands to the exact size you require. I used 1 sheet of 3/4" MDF, 1 quart of gloss paint, spikes I ordered from Amazon and 3 bags of sand. Tools required are a straight edge (homemade), a skill-saw, some carpenter's glue and a handful of finishing nails. A bit on hole filler and some sandpaper. The entire project was completed over a weekend. The total cost was under $100. Satisfaction - Priceless. 🤣 |
