Buying Records

I always buy new sealed LP records unless new is not available. I only shop eBay. When buying a used record I buy near mint, nothing lower graded. I never seen used mint. I have had good luck with near mint. Most make no noise at all. A few have had a second of very light noise and I am ok with that. I noticed on the very light noise it about disappears if I track VMN95ML at 2.5 grams. It is normally a 2 gram tracking. So tracking on the heavy side may be of benefit.

I only buy vinyl from Amazon.  At today's prices, only flawless is acceptable.  Too many times I've had to order multiple copies before I received one without minor defects.  Amazon's effortless return policy takes all the worry out of buying vinyl.  IMHO.  As for used, I would rather buy the CD version.  Again, that's just me.

I've had the same experience with Amazon and getting to the place of having a satisfactory copy is easy.

I have also received exceptional quality of vinyl through crowd fund purchases.

More fun is an Album arrives out of the blue, long after a pledge.

I only buy used, scratched, greasy. When I clean them, some are turning out to be the beautiful queens raising from the dumpster

I mostly buy new from Acoustic Sounds and Music Direct. I try to stick to AAA pressings or MoFi (DSD on vinyl high quality stuff). I buy used originals on ebay.
I try not to buy albums that were originally recorded as digital. I can listen to this music on Qobuz or Tidal. There are some exceptions but I generally stick to this rule.

One interesting recording company is Newvelle Records.

Their clear vinyl are all really good quality analog recordings.

I buy new records from CCMusic, Elusive Disc, Amazon, or from a couple of local record stores. I buy used from either of the 2 local stores, and occasionally from vendors at a local antiques mall
