Newbie turntable Upgrade
So I broke my cardinal rule about not going down the Vinyl Rabbit-hole, now this Alice-in-Wonderland owns a Fluance RT85, 4,count them, FOUR phonostages (Parasound XRM, Darlington Labs, Sutherland , and a Waxwing to feed my dac) Ortofon 2M Blue, and Bronze, and a Denon DL-110 cartridge along with a bunch of decent jazz and classic rock lp's. Now the need to upgrade the turntable has risen. Looking for suggestions that doesn't exceed $2K usd.
I value your opinions.

The Technics GR is a solid choice in your price range (I have one). The ability to easily swap carts is important to me. I have no use for the DJ features (I think they have a model that is similar but without that stuff, I bought mine before the newer models came out). I doubt you will find anything better under $2k unless you are willing to buy used (an option for those that live in big cities, fraught with peril for those that don't). |
always look a bit over your budget, something you might want might pop up. both the TT and the long arm are quite good I have read (never saw one) Denon DP-80 with adjustable long arm in Canada
alternate headshells with this arm pipe, there is a straight pipe for fixed cartridge that fits the arm base, like the Technics system. clarify the voltage, a simple voltage convertor might be needed like I use for my 100v TT81. |
