Advantage with Technics, besides it being a good table, is you can swap headshells with different cartridges. The adjustments are so easy that you’ll be spinning with new cart in no time.
Newbie turntable Upgrade
So I broke my cardinal rule about not going down the Vinyl Rabbit-hole, now this Alice-in-Wonderland owns a Fluance RT85, 4,count them, FOUR phonostages (Parasound XRM, Darlington Labs, Sutherland , and a Waxwing to feed my dac) Ortofon 2M Blue, and Bronze, and a Denon DL-110 cartridge along with a bunch of decent jazz and classic rock lp's. Now the need to upgrade the turntable has risen. Looking for suggestions that doesn't exceed $2K usd.
I value your opinions.

eric I’m not wild about the appearance of the Technics, there are many wood surrounds available, this is about 2 years old, but my last post there recent find This one is solid Walnut, costs $790., a good bit more than others, what I noticed is the list of Models it fits. Of course that would need to be confirmed if buying from a different maker, but here’s the link and list of models they say it fits We’ve confirmed these custom plinths will fit these models: Dimensions: 19.5 wide x15.5 deep Skyfiaudio Wood Frame for Technics TTs

@elliottbnewcombjr south of Vegas, and although the advantages of Technics are many, swappable Headshell as mentioned above, I have a love/hate relationship with its looks. So your suggestion about the plinth surround is worthy of some thought. Thank you. I'm still more enamored by a low profile look such as the ones presented by the Rega rp3 and up but that would curtail the swappable headshells, of which I own three. So, I'm stuck. I saw a Thorens DD on the used market yesterday that had a requisite arm. But balked when I considered the shipping danger. |
