Recommended a highly resolving cartridge

Hi all, all tube system that is warm with a good midrange presence inherently. I’m looking for a cartridge that offers high detail / resolution and wide / deep soundstage. This is on a stock SL-1200G TT. On a side note, if anyone has experience “upgrading” the stock tonearm on a G please chime in. I’ve read conflicting reports of the merits of such a move, and while I’m very happy with the tone of my TT and am not looking to move off of it, I am curious about a tonearm swap (must allow for headshell swapping).

I had never known about that Grado you mentioned Ricky. I looked up the Australian price. Twice what the ART20 sells for in Australia! Yet you seem to much prefer the ART20. I have not seen a poor opinion of the ART20.

I'm not familiar with the Trumpet so I can't offer much of an opinion as to what would be better.

Was in the VPI room at CapitolAudiofest and Harry Weisfeld went

out of his way to praise the Art-20 as very special, and he has heard a few cartridges in his day.

@drrsutliff i am down an arm but it’s just a flesh wound…

I don’t think I’ve heard a recent AT art level cart ( or for that matter Signet ) that failed to please on many dimensions. Like you, I am a firm believer in wringing out the chain including isolation, the table, the arm, cables, the phono stage and YaeS setup. I am sure the Hagerman is a giant killer for some.

Update! I love the ART20 so much I decided to go all in and also get a AT ART1000x. I got a great deal and am very excited. My Koetsu has been sold and I'm putting my Grado Aeon3 on the market now too. Literal giant killers!

You asked about the compatibility of the Lyra Kleos with rock music.  I have had a Kleos for about a year, and it is fine with any genre of music.  In my system, compared to digital sources, there is a slight warmth in the upper bass/lower midrange, but that certainly doesn't hurt rock music--probably just helps to fatten the kick drum and bass guitar.

The Kleos doesn't seem to be the greatest tracker, but it provides natural detail and timbre and great soundstaging.
