Any former Lamm Preamp Users? What did you buy next?

My main system has a Lamm LL2.1 Preamp that needs repair and Lamm is basically out of business and I need to move on. I'm willing to spend up to 4K (used) but I'm especially interested in what former Lamm uses have moved on to. The Lamm is a special sounding unit but they aren't sharing the schematic so repairs are a fools errand. I know, I'm one of the fools....

I had the L2 Reference. Mainly a vinyl guy. (I still use the ML2 SET amps).  I bought the Veloce Lithio, the later version that uses the 6h30--and Vytas still supports the unit, have upgraded the battery and other circuitry, he has a new upgrade for it. The biggest drawback is that you can hear the difference (profound) between the old DR Reflector and new production tubes. The DR, particularly early production, is especially hard to find these days.

Lamm is not out of business as far as I know. I talked to Elina several times after Vlad's passing, and did get a fresh set of tubes for my amps since then. Haven't needed any repairs.

I know! I have a pair of the DRs in my Ayon amplifier. Took a year to find (at a reasonable, but still high, price.)

Thanks for the suggestion!

I am sorry that Lamm is struggling to get back to a somewhat normal way of life for a great company after the death of their main guy and hoping for the best for them in Florida. WTS, I have owned both the LL2 Deluxe and the LL2.1 Deluxe and loved them, I sold the LL2.1 thinking I was going to downsize my system and have been sorry and looking over my shoulder since doing so but did replace it with a Canary preamp, the Canary CA700 which has proven to be the equal of the Lamm and it has a remote which was never a selling point for me till owning one. Canary is a great American builder of tube gear that doesn't get a lot of attention but are built like a tank and have a great customer support set up. The only caveat is that they don't move well on the used market which is fine with me as that is where I normally look to buy and they can be had for a song used. I also own their CA306 300B tube amp and their M50 KT88 amp and love them. Enjoy the music

@dhcod Hi,

Fidel Galano would know who could fix the right way. He’s one of the nicest users I have ever corresponded with on Agon. He knows his stuff. Period

This is an excellent pre from Don Sachs and Lynn Olson.
