Any former Lamm Preamp Users? What did you buy next?

My main system has a Lamm LL2.1 Preamp that needs repair and Lamm is basically out of business and I need to move on. I'm willing to spend up to 4K (used) but I'm especially interested in what former Lamm uses have moved on to. The Lamm is a special sounding unit but they aren't sharing the schematic so repairs are a fools errand. I know, I'm one of the fools....

Lamm is theoretically still operating out of Miami, and I would think you could return the item there for repair.  However, I did have a Lamm pre amplifier, and moved on to the Ypsilon.  It was more expensive, but it also sounds better.

We repair audio components and the Lamm is a good unit.  Not expensive to repair.  WE also can offer upgrade options.

Happy Listening,

@jasonbourne71 Sorry for my language.... he's not just a repair guy. He's an accomplished engineer who repairs high end gear. Also, he's not the only one who I have spoken to about this piece. 2 well know techs have said repairing Lamm is a crap shoot. I've spoken to Elina Lamm and she's trying to get a repair situation up and running but there's no guarantee. My unit is an early one and if a more recently built unit popped up, I'd grab it but that doesn't happen very often.... so I'm looking for something to enjoy now.

If you share what specific sound characteristics you really like about the Lamm and would like to keep you’ll get more good recommendations here.

I had the L2 Reference. Mainly a vinyl guy. (I still use the ML2 SET amps).  I bought the Veloce Lithio, the later version that uses the 6h30--and Vytas still supports the unit, have upgraded the battery and other circuitry, he has a new upgrade for it. The biggest drawback is that you can hear the difference (profound) between the old DR Reflector and new production tubes. The DR, particularly early production, is especially hard to find these days.

Lamm is not out of business as far as I know. I talked to Elina several times after Vlad's passing, and did get a fresh set of tubes for my amps since then. Haven't needed any repairs.
