Actually the fact that KEF is well known for their research and development capabilities is the key thing that makes me gravitate towards them personally.   THey actually have published pretty extensive white papers on at least some popular products, like ls50.  I am an engineer/scientist by trade and read it thoroughly early on before buying, but I’d wager most people could care less about those things, yet many do, which helps account for the brands ongoing success.  It’s what they are known for.  Many independent reviewers have confirmed KEFs results as  leaders in overall performance over the years.  Doesn’t mean everyone will judge them as "musical" to their ears.  Different strokes....  My Sonus Fabers look and sound night and day different but I love them both, like chocolate and vanilla ice cream.  Variety is the spice...

as usual another idiotic you tube video

we are a kef dealer and the sweat spot has always   been the r series

however this articles conclusions are fraught with in accuracies the test was carried out  by listening in different rooms nor were any other testing criteria published

if you want to test loudspeaker vs loudspeaker this is how you test:

listen to one speaker note spl level play a track  30 seconds

move loudspeakers out of room

place new loudspeakers in exactly the same location, plat same snippet at identical spl level note the differences.

as per ref ones vs ls50 plus sub no contest ref ones are far superior

we wonder what his conclusions would be if tested the way we test?

KEF is great value. I would say that they are not sexy  - subjectively, of course. I'd say a lot of depth/detail, not a lot of warmth. I wonder what's a good pairing to balance it out.

I like KEF. owned the Ls50 just before they released the Metas. they sound wonderful.
